As they say, love is a thing of many faces. It has a divine quality in its most pure state. It might be passion, insanity, or remorse at different moments.
It could also be repentance. In its two-hour running time, Haseen Dillruba focuses on many types of love and enlists your support for its protagonists.
They are regular individuals just like you and me, but when they are passionate, they can transform into both their worst and best selves. The movie states that anybody has the potential to be either a hero or a villain, hence there are none in it.
Our actions and behaviour are shaped by time and external factors. We act irrationally against one another and for one another because, at the moment, it felt appropriate.
In the end, we are the results of our decisions and are responsible for the results. The movie deftly makes use of these clichés from the noir genre.

Hollywood is seeing a boom in neo-noir, and Hasee Toh Phasee (2014) filmmaker Vinil Mathew, who made his debut with the hatke romantic comedy, appears to have a thing for it.
The movie’s author, Kanika Dhillon, is known for her penchant for telling unusual tales. This movie is not for anybody looking for fantasy escape. Although it has the appearance of a thriller, it nevertheless holds up a mirror to our society.
It indicates pretty plainly, among other things, that it is deemed improper for a woman to feel sexual desire.And so when she decides to express it, guys feel uneasy and anxious.
Marriages may quickly go awry if the minefield of sexual politics is not carefully traversed. Additionally, it emphasises that all forms of attraction exist. Due to some bizarre feature, even the most unattractive person may appear appealing.
When it comes to issues of the heart, nothing is constant. Every aspect is changing. Things change, and one must accept that shift and adapt.
The unpredictable nature of behaviour is what makes the movie so compelling. Characters are often shown in black and white. However, this movie gives us a peek of how actual men and women act.
The movie’s protagonists abandon all pretences of politeness and interact with one another in the most natural way possible. When the masks are taken off, their actual character is revealed, and it is unpleasant to see.
The movie also makes the point that learning to forgive oneself comes before learning to forgive others since forgiveness is a kind of love. Delhi-born middle-class woman Rani Kashyap (Taapsee Pannu) has completed a beautician’s training.
She accepts an arranged marriage because she is past the age of 20 and has no life goals. A small-town boy named Rishabh Saxena (Vikrant Massey) has a bad habit of falling in love with every potential wife.
He works for the government as an electrical engineer, and his only pastime is fixing his neighbours’ electronic devices. The books written by Hindi pulp author Dinesh Pandit are the only thing they have in common.
When they are married, however, their relationship quickly deteriorates due to sexual incompatibility. Neel, Rishabh’s cousin, arrives at this point and stays with them (Harshvardhan Rane).
Neel is a hottie who enjoys extreme activities. There are a lot of fliers, and Rani is taken. When Rishabh is purportedly killed in a gas explosion, things change. Rani is the top suspect in Rishabh’s suspected murder, according to the police, and Neel is gone.
The movie uses a multiple-narrative approach in which the same events are told from the perspectives of many characters. Rani is subjected to relentless questioning by the police, including beatings.
Her neighbours and relatives are also questioned. One is unsure of what is good and wrong since the variations are always shifting.
The audience only learns the truth in the conclusion, when the full account of the events is recounted.
Both the conversation and the storyline are quite engrossing, and Kanika deserves praise for keeping the pacing steady. Additionally excellent are the cinematography and editing. If the performers hadn’t done their jobs, all the technical brilliance would have been for naught.
In a nutshell, they’re all quite fantastic.
Believability is a defining quality of outstanding acting, and all three of the principal actors portray characters that are incredibly plausible. None of them portray traditional characters; instead,
they all take on roles that are continuously changing. And that evolution is gradual rather than sudden. In addition to being the catalyst that upends Rishabh and Rani’s world, Harshvardhan Rane also serves as a type of unifying force. Because you are aware of how people are, you don’t love or hate him.
You’re not sure if it’s because he’s a terrific actor or because his character was so expertly crafted because he fits his part so naturally.
Vikrant Massey often underplays the roles he plays. And that fits the role of the slightly henpecked individual we saw at the beginning just right. Then, though, his sinister side starts to show. In this time as well, nothing is excessive.

This mild-mannered man contains secret depths, as shown by a subtle gesture, a certain glance, and a specific glitter in his eyes. In the conclusion, he truly shines, demonstrating a 360-degree change. What is there to say about Taapsee?
With each each movie, she has developed. In Thappad, she portrayed a stoic housewife, yet in this scene, she is anything from that.Her character struggles to accept her imperfections while knowing they exist. But she is aware of her own capacity for transformation.
She embarks on a journey of love and emerges out of it a better person. It would have been challenging for her to display all those colours, but she did a wonderful job of it.
Due to the epidemic and lockdown, the movie is available on OTT. However, it was one of those things that deserved to be released in theatres.
Maybe the producers may choose a theatrical release in the future, when circumstances are better. Watch it for its gloomy perspective on love and the excellent acting by the entire cast.
